We’ll pick you up directly from your hotel and drive north of Athens toward the coastal town of Marathon, where in 490 BC, the outnumbered Athenians faced—and defeated—the mighty Persian army under Darius. It was here that Phidippides began his epic run to Athens, inspiring the modern marathon race known today.

Travel the same historic route and visit the Marathon Tomb, a powerful memorial to the 192 Athenian soldiers who fell in battle. This sacred site also marks the starting point of the Authentic Athens Marathon, run every year by athletes from around the world.

In addition to its historical significance, Marathon is a beloved coastal getaway for locals, featuring seaside tavernas, cafés, and scenic marinas—perfect for a relaxing break by the sea.
