How Our Journey Begins

Your private Delphi adventure starts right at your doorstep—we'll pick you up from your hotel in Athens and bring you back comfortably at the end of the tour.

We recommend beginning the trip around 08:00 AM to make the most of the day. Starting early allows you to explore the archaeological sites in peace, avoiding the large tourist groups and crowded buses. This way, you'll truly connect with each destination without the rush.

First Stop: The Monastery of Hosios Loukas

Our day begins with a scenic 70-mile drive northwest of Athens along the National Highway. Passing through the town of Levadia, we reach the 10th-century Monastery of Hosios Loukas, a masterpiece of Byzantine art nestled on the western slopes of Mount Helicon.

This serene monastery was founded by Hosios Loukas, a compassionate and visionary hermit known for his spiritual foresight. Inside the monastery lies his relics, housed in the impressive Catholicon adorned with spectacular mosaics. A true architectural gem and one of Greece’s most important Byzantine landmarks.

Next Stop: Arachova

Leaving the monastery behind, we make our way to Arachova, a charming mountain village perched on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Known for its stone houses, vibrant atmosphere, and winter ski resort, Arachova is a favorite escape for Athenians and a lovely detour before reaching Delphi.

Main Destination: Delphi

At Delphi, we’ll dive deep into the spiritual and cultural heart of ancient Greece. Explore iconic sites including:

  • The Castalia Spring

  • The Sanctuary of Apollo

  • The Treasury of the Athenians

  • The Ancient Theatre and Stadium

  • The Delphi Museum, home to the bronze Charioteer

In mythology, Delphi was considered the navel of the world, home to the legendary Delphic Oracle. Here, the priestess Pythia, seated above a sacred fissure, channeled Apollo’s prophecies—guiding the decisions of rulers and common people alike.

The ancient Stadium also hosted the Pythian Games, one of the major athletic events of the Greek world.

Final Moments: A Meal with a View

We’ll enjoy a traditional Greek lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the stunning Itea Gulf, soaking in the natural beauty and rich heritage of the region.

Before heading back to Athens, we’ll stop at the Temple of Athena Pronaia and the Gymnasium, completing your journey through Delphi’s timeless legacy.
